Coralys & Alex – Surprise Downtown Tampa, FL Proposal and Engagement Session (Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park)

Coralys and Alex met me at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park in downtown Tampa in early March 2020 for a couple’s session with their Basset Hound, Pancake. Coralys and Alex wanted family photos with their sweet pup to showcase their love for each other and Pancake.

Leading up to this session, Coralys and I spoke and sent lots of texts about outfits and location choices. I found it super sweet that Alex was also very excited about the session. Little did we both know the surprise Alex was planning all along for this session!

When we arrived to the park, it was a beautiful late Florida winter/ early spring. We started in a walk way at Julian B. Lane Park that was lined by trees. It made for a beautiful spot to take capture portraits of their little family. As you can see below, Pancake is quite the model!

After getting a few portraits of all three, Pancake went off to spend sometime with her grandmother, Alex’s mom. As Alex walked back towards Coralys I noticed he was holding something behind his back – an engagement ring box! I was so excited for them!!! (Fun Fact: Coralys and I taught at the same school for many years and we quickly became friends. We were even gym buddies together and Coralys introduced me to Alex at one of our gym sessions together.)

Alex and Coralys actually went to the same high school and worked together but never spoke to each other until years later, so I was thrilled for her when I saw him walking back to us with the ring box behind his back. Check the sequence below to see the surprise proposal that then turned into an engagement session.

When he got back to Coralys, I didn’t say much and let Alex take the lead.
He embraced her and spoke sweet words to Coralys.
Then he got down on one knee and proposed!!!!! It was such a beautiful moment!
To add another surprise, while Alex was proposing to Coralys some of their family members snuck in behind to witness the proposal. You can see just how surprised Coralys was to see them! We captured a portrait of everyone including Pancake with a “She Said Yes!” banner. Alex could not have planned a better proposal to include many people they both love.

Shortly after the proposal, we captured a few more portraits with Pancake sporting her “She Said Yes!” shirt.

After a few photos with Pancake, she went off to spend time with family, while Coralys and Alex had a few engagement photos taken to document this special moment in their lives. Check out a few engagement session portraits of the newly engaged couple below!

Coralys and Alex recently said “I do” and I am so thrilled for them and Pancake. They are such loving people and I absolutely wish them all the best in this world.

Coralys and Alex, thank you for the honor of capturing this special moment in your lives and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for your sweet little family!
